Purpose
The Seventh Generation Youth Council was created by the Tunica-Biloxi Tribal Council in 2019 and was inaugurated at the 2019 Pow Wow. It is comprised of Tribal Members, ages 14 – 20 years old. The main role of the Youth Council for the Tunica-Biloxi Tribe is to bring a fresh set of eyes to the Tribal Council and to represent the youth members of the Tribe.
The Seventh Generation Youth Council’s goals is to communicate with youth members and identify focus issues of the younger generation. Additionally, its goal is to build the council to be sustainable so it can thrive for years to come.
Events and Services
The Seventh Generation Youth Council planned and executed the Tribe’s first Virtual Youth Summer Camp in July 2020. Additionally, they have worked to raise the Tribal Scholarship by $2,000 and are working on a variety of programming including trust fund education, virtual tutoring, an education rewards program and a college fair for high school students.
